...yeah, that sounds like a guy who is a giant dick, yeah. I mean, he is bringing people in from all kinds of worlds and all kinds of experiences, and then to expect the whole group to know what he wants out of you...
And also to follow it without question? Asshole.
( One hundred percent. )
But yeah, that doesn't sound too bad. So Diego was here for Sa-Hareth? ( She doesn't realize that she has another brother running around. )
Seems like he's just steeped in mystery. He's definitely got his own goals in all of this. ( So she's glad most people seem to know to be cautious when it comes to him, to not believe him on all that he says. ) Oh, right. Emilia mentioned there was another brother here too.
Is it nice having like your family here, or does that make it harder? ( Given it's such a dangerous place, it can probably be worrying, but at least she doesn't have to miss them. )
[Allison shrugs, shifting some of their prep work to the stove to cook.]
We were kind of raised for worst case scenarios. So for me, it's comforting. I know they can handle themselves, and I don't have to be alone. And my being here means they're not alone, which is really not great for some of us.
That does sound pretty comforting. ( It would probably be harder if she felt like she had to watch out for them all the time, but since she can be confident they can handle themselves, it's less of a worry and more company.
Red's gaze follows Allison to the stove with curiosity. )
...but woah, hold the phone, raised for worst case scenarios? Okay, you can't just say that without throwing out an example of one of those worst case scenarios.
Well, my sister almost ended the world once. And we tried to get around it through time travel, accidentally got stuck in the sixties, and then the world almost ended again.
[Though that one wasn't hundred percent Viktor's fault.]
And then we landed here.
But I don't know if that's the thing that Dad was trying to prepare us for.
( Red stares as she processes and processes and then some more processing. )
...holy shit.
That's a lot.
Your Dad was preparing you for the apocalypse, or like this place? Is that what dads are supposed to do? ( Cause she thought they're supposed to like raise children, which means like discipline and teaching them things but not apocalypse preparation generally. )
I don't think we ever got to what our dad was preparing us for before he died.
[If she had to pin down when something shifted, it was after they lost Five. But she never cared enough to dig into why things changed. She was too busy mourning her brother.]
But he had us be superheroes. We were actually pretty effective in the field when we were kids.
( Red's expression is twisted into one of confusion, one of understanding that this wasn't okay. Her knowledge of what it should be like to be mortal is better than her experiences. )

[Either way, he's not doing a very good job of managing them. Then she blinks when Red mentions Diego.]
Oh, no. Sorry, we have another brother, Five. He's the one who was in Sa-Hareth.

Sounds like your childhood was fucked up.

[In more ways than one. When they weren't being forced to fight crime, they were being pitted against each other for supremacy.]
But I think we all turned out okay in the end. Not great, but okay.
